Rich FXHDRP DOCUMENTATION

FAQ

Compatibility, source code, troubleshooting, and support for Rich FX.

Which render pipelines are supported?

Rich FX is built for the High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP). It uses HDRP custom post-processing and Volume components. It does not support the Built-in, Lightweight, or Universal Render Pipeline.

Can I edit the effects?

Yes. Rich FX includes the C# Volume components and shader source. You can modify the HLSL to customize the effects. The package’s VolumeScripts folder contains the components and Resources contains the shaders.

Which Unity version does this release support?

Rich FX 2.0 supports Unity 6.3 with HDRP 17.3. The updated demo was checked in Unity 6000.3.26f1 / HDRP 17.3.0 with legacy input, the new Input System and Both. Repeated Play sessions were also checked with domain and scene reload disabled.

Why can’t I see an effect?

Follow Installation to register the effect with HDRP. Then check the Volume profile, camera Volume Layer Mask, Volume weight, parameter overrides, and effect intensity as described in Usage. Bloom Streak belongs in Before Post Process; the other effects belong in After Post Process.

Some effects have additional activation conditions. For example, Scanlines needs both Intensity and Count above zero, while Texture Distortion needs positive Intensity and Speed and an assigned distortion texture. See the effect reference.

Where is the Rich FX launcher?

Open Tools > Rich FX > Launcher. Tools > Rich FX > Online Docs opens richfx.inanevin.com, and Tools > Rich FX > Register Effects registers effects in HDRP Graphics settings.

The old installer says it cannot find post-processing categories

That installer targets an older pipeline-asset format. Update to Rich FX 2.0 and use Tools > Rich FX > Register Effects. Registration now uses HDRP Graphics settings and supports Undo; manual YAML editing is no longer part of the setup.

The demo reports that legacy input is disabled

Use the updated 2.0 demo scripts and scene, including the Input/NewInputSystem folder and assembly definitions. The demo selects the input backend automatically. When Active Input Handling is New or Both, a compatible Input System package must be installed. See installation.

The old sample scene has missing prefabs or scripts

The 2.0 sample replaces the missing dependencies with included geometry, materials, lighting and a demo camera. Reimport the updated example assets and reopen RichFXExampleScene.unity. Save any custom scene changes in a separate scene first.

What if I still can’t install the effects?

Use the contact page to reach support. Include your Unity version, HDRP version, any Console errors, and the effect or setup step that is failing.

Are more effects planned?

The original manual mentioned planned additions. That historical statement is not a current release schedule. Contact the author for the status of a particular effect or update.

Can I request an effect?

Send effect ideas, feature requests, or custom-effect enquiries to inanevin@gmail.com. Include the look you want to achieve and any relevant references.
